Certifications Overview
WTA Certified Tea Specialistâ„¢: Structured to build basic core level tea knowledge, which is a must-have for tea business owners, managers, staff, or anyone who sells tea in their business. (Required for any Advanced Certifications)
In our Advanced Curriculum, all Advanced tea certifications will require students to complete seven tea classes in their desired designation to earn their tea certification. Students will need to complete their WTA Certified Tea Specialist certification to earn any Advanced Tea Certifications. You can achieve one or more of the following higher-level designations:
WTA Certified Tea Professionalâ„¢: Devised for tea business owners and individuals who want to advance their knowledge of the tea trade.
WTA Certified Tea Sommelierâ„¢: Created for tearoom owners, foodservice professionals, or anyone who serves tea or wants to pair tea and food in their business.
WTA Certified Tea Health Expert™: Designed for spas, nutritionists, dietitians, holistic healing, and wellness professionals that want to have a better awareness of tea’s health properties.
WTA Certified Tea Blenderâ„¢: Curated to provide the technical tea skills and understanding of the art and science of creating tea blends and customized tea products.
WTA Certified Tea Aroma Expertâ„¢: Crafted for the tea professional looking to become a better tea taster, tea purchaser, and tea blender by enhancing their organoleptic and sensory skills.

from 554 reviewsThis course was very useful to me to understand what goes into formulating tea blends. It was fun to create my own breakfast blend of black teas. I thoroughly enjoyed blending various botanicals into tea and learning how to determine a formula between percentages and resulting grams. I feel more comfortable being able to create even more blends on my own for my own pleasure. I can turn my own kitchen into a tea science lab.
I was less excited about this course than some of the tea based courses, but I actually found it very interesting and informative and really will help me in formulating blends and utilizing other plants outside of camellia sinensis.
I loved everything about this class. I've never meditated before and the guided meditation videos were very helpful.
All of the Core classes have been invaluable in furthering my knowledge, this one is no exception.
Each course is fascinating and I am continuously surprised by the life of tea. I was really excited for cupping this round and feel that I am strengthening my 5 senses each time I practice.
